Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra launches with upgraded camera and AI features

February 26, 2026 by Harish Reddy Gudi

• Samsung has officially introduced the Galaxy S26 Ultra globally, positioning it as the company’s most refined flagship smartphone to date.
• The new model focuses on camera upgrades, AI-driven software, and design refinements rather than radical hardware changes.
• Availability begins with global pre-orders already open, with retail sales scheduled for March.

Here are the key details.

• Quad-camera system continues with hardware refinements
The Galaxy S26 Ultra keeps a four-camera layout but adjusts optics and processing.

• Main sensor:
– 200MP ISOCELL HP2 (1/1.3″)
– Wider F/1.4 aperture for improved low-light capture

• Additional cameras:
– 50MP ultra-wide
– 10MP 3× telephoto
– 50MP 5× periscope telephoto with updated F/2.9 aperture

• Video capabilities include:
– 8K recording at 30fps
– 4K up to 120fps
– Horizontal Lock Super Steady that stabilises orientation using motion sensors

• Front camera remains 12MP with 4K video support.

• Display introduces privacy-focused viewing mode
Samsung uses a 6.9-inch LTPO Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with adaptive refresh from 1Hz to 120Hz.

Key display changes:

• M14 panel with CoE technology for efficiency
• QHD+ resolution and high peak brightness
• Built-in Privacy Display that limits side viewing visibility
• Gorilla Armor 2 anti-reflective protection

The screen remains a central differentiator for the Ultra lineup.

• Design becomes thinner and lighter
Samsung reduces the thickness to 7.9mm and slightly lowers the weight while keeping the large display footprint.

Design highlights:

• Rounded corners for improved ergonomics
• Armour aluminium frame with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 back
• Ambient Island design language
• Standard colours: Black, White, Cobalt Violet, Sky Blue
• Online exclusives: Silver Shadow and Pink Gold

• Performance built around Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy
The phone runs Qualcomm’s latest flagship chipset paired with a large vapour chamber cooling system.

Configuration options:

• Up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM
• Up to 1TB UFS 4.1 storage
• 5000mAh battery
• 60W wired charging and 25W wireless charging

Battery capacity stays unchanged, but efficiency improvements are expected from the new chip and display stack.

• Software focuses heavily on AI assistance
The device ships with One UI 8.5 based on Android, alongside expanded Galaxy AI features.

New usability additions include:

• Now Nudge — proactive suggestions based on on-screen context
• Now Brief and Now Bar updates
• Improved Finder search across apps and system content
• Quick Share enhancements for cross-platform file transfers
• Built-in S Pen remains part of the Ultra experience
• Long-term support with multi-year OS and security updates

• Pricing and availability
Global pricing aligns with previous Ultra positioning.

Pricing tiers:

• 12GB / 256GB — around $1,299 / ₹1,39,999
• 12GB / 512GB — around $1,499 / ₹1,59,999
• 16GB / 1TB — around $1,799 / ₹1,89,999

Pre-orders are live with promotional offers, including storage upgrades and exchange bonuses.
General sale begins March 11.

  • The Galaxy S26 Ultra continues Samsung’s strategy of incremental flagship refinement.
  • Camera optics, AI features, and display improvements form the core upgrades.
  • The device targets users who prioritise photography, stylus productivity, and long software support cycles.
