POCO M8 5G Confirmed to Launch in India on January 8, Touted as Slimmest in Its Segment

December 31, 2025 by Harish Reddy Gudi

POCO has officially confirmed the India launch of the POCO M8 5G, and this time the company seems to be changing its usual M-series formula. Instead of focusing only on price and raw performance, POCO is pushing design and form factor as the key selling points.

Launch & Sale Details

  • Device: POCO M8 5G
  • India launch date: January 8, 2026
  • Time: 12 noon IST
  • Sales platform: Flipkart
  • Launch confirmed via official POCO teasers

Slimmest Phone in Its Segment

POCO is highlighting the physical design more than anything else:

  • Claimed to be the slimmest phone in its price segment
  • Thickness: 7.35mm
  • Weight: Around 178 grams
  • Designed for:
    • Better in-hand comfort
    • Easier one-hand use
    • Reduced bulk compared to typical mid-range phones

In a segment where phones keep getting heavier due to larger batteries, this could be a noticeable advantage.

Design & Build

The POCO M8 5G brings a refreshed look to the M-series:

  • Dual-tone rear finish
  • Combination of:
    • Matte textures
    • Vegan leather elements (as teased)
  • Centrally placed squircle camera module
    • Houses two rear cameras
    • LED flash included
  • Cleaner and more symmetrical design than older M-series models

Expected colour options:

  • Black
  • Light blue
  • Black–silver dual-tone

Display (Leaked)

While POCO hasn’t officially confirmed full specs yet, leaks suggest:

  • 6.77-inch AMOLED display
  • 120Hz refresh rate
  • Likely a major upgrade over previous M-series LCD panels

Performance & Software (Leaked)

  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3
  • RAM options: Up to 8GB
  • Storage options: Up to 256GB
  • Aimed at:
    • Smooth daily usage
    • Casual gaming
    • Better efficiency than older M-series phones

Camera Setup

  • Confirmed: 50MP primary rear camera
  • Secondary camera details not yet revealed
  • Front camera specifications still unknown

Battery & Charging (Leaked)

  • 5,520mAh battery
  • 45W fast charging
  • IP65 rating for dust and splash resistance

This puts the phone in line with current mid-range expectations rather than pushing extremes.

Competition & Positioning

The POCO M8 5G will compete in the crowded ₹12,000–₹18,000 range against:

  • Redmi Note series
  • Realme number series
  • Samsung Galaxy M & F lineup

Where POCO could stand out:

  • Slimmer and lighter design
  • More premium-looking build
  • Focus on comfort over bulk

Expected Price

  • Official pricing has not been announced yet
  • Expected to be around ₹15,000
  • Pricing will be crucial to its success

Why POCO M8 5G Matters

  • Signals a design-first approach for POCO’s M-series
  • Targets users tired of bulky mid-range phones
  • Balances essentials like AMOLED display and fast charging
