iQOO 15R launches in India with Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, 7600mAh battery and gaming focus

February 25, 2026 by Harish Reddy Gudi

iQOO has introduced the iQOO 15R (model I2508) in India, positioning it as a performance-centric smartphone aimed at heavy users and mobile gamers. The device arrives at a starting price of ₹44,999 and combines flagship-level silicon, a large battery, and a high-refresh display.

The launch reflects the current trend where upper-midrange phones focus on gaming performance, thermal efficiency, and battery endurance rather than camera-first positioning.

Core hardware overview:

• 6.59-inch flat LTPS OLED display built by TCL CSOT (C9+)
• 1.5K resolution with 144Hz refresh rate
• Up to 1800 nits high brightness mode
• 4320Hz PWM dimming aimed at reducing eye strain
• Schott Xensation Alpha protection on the front panel
• Pixel density around 459 PPI

Performance and gaming stack:

• Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset paired with a dedicated Q2 gaming chip
• Adreno 829 GPU handling graphics workloads
• LPDDR5X Ultra RAM with speeds up to 9600Mbps
• UFS 4.1 storage for faster app loading and game installs
• Android 16 running OriginOS 6

The additional gaming chip is designed to support frame interpolation, input responsiveness, and thermal stability during extended sessions.

Camera configuration:

• 50MP Sony LYT-700V main sensor with OIS
• 8MP ultrawide secondary camera
• 32MP front camera using a GalaxyCore sensor

The camera setup focuses on reliable everyday photography rather than experimental hardware, aligning with the device’s performance-first positioning.

Battery and charging:

• 7600mAh battery — significantly larger than most phones in this price tier
• 100W wired fast charging support
• USB Type-C (USB 2.0) connectivity

A battery of this size targets multi-day usage, especially for gaming and video streaming.

Build, connectivity, and features:

• IP68 and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance
• 3D ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner
• Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 support
• X-axis linear motor enabling precise haptics and 4D gaming vibration
• NFC and IR blaster included
• Metal frame with glass back design

Dimensions and weight vary slightly by colour:

• Dark Knight — 7.9mm thickness, 202g
• Triumph Silver — 8.1mm thickness, 206g

Why this launch matters:

• Larger batteries are becoming a key differentiator in performance phones
• Dedicated gaming silicon is moving into sub-flagship pricing
• High PWM dimming and advanced haptics are now mainstream features

For buyers, the practical gains include:

• Longer gaming sessions without frequent charging
• Faster performance in heavy apps
• More stable frame rates during extended play
• Premium connectivity standards like Wi-Fi 7

The iQOO 15R sits in a segment where performance, battery capacity, and durability are increasingly prioritized over experimental features. Its specification mix suggests a focus on longevity and sustained performance rather than short-term benchmark peaks.
