Motorola Signature to Launch in India on January 7, Kicking Off New Premium Series

Motorola is preparing to enter a new premium category in India with the launch of the Motorola Signature. The company has officially confirmed that the phone will debut in India on January 7, marking the start of an entirely new series above its existing Edge lineup.

Official Launch Details

Positioned as a premium smartphone

  • Product name: Motorola Signature
  • Launch date: January 7, India

Announced via:

  • Motorola posts on X (Twitter)
  • A dedicated Flipkart microsite

Design & Build Highlights

Motorola is clearly focusing on design this time:

  • Fabric-finished back panel for a premium feel
  • Flat display with slim, symmetrical bezels
  • Centred hole-punch front camera
  • Power and volume buttons on the right edge
  • Extra button on the left side
    • Could act as:
      • Camera shortcut
      • Custom action key
    • Motorola hasn’t confirmed its function yet

Extra hardware buttons have become popular again after Apple’s Action Button, with brands like OnePlus also following the trend.

Camera Setup (Major Focus)

Motorola is heavily teasing camera capabilities:

  • Triple rear camera setup
  • All three cameras expected to be 50MP sensors
  • Main camera:
    • Sony Lytia sensor
    • Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS)
  • Periscope telephoto lens spotted in teasers
  • Support for Dolby Vision, hinting at strong multimedia capabilities

This setup strongly positions the Signature as a camera-centric premium phone.

Performance & Software

The Motorola Signature has already appeared on Geekbench:

  • Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5
  • RAM: Up to 16GB
  • OS: Android 16 out of the box

Geekbench scores (as tipped):

  • Single-core: 2,854
  • Multi-core: 9,411

These scores are on par with the OnePlus 15R, which uses the same chipset.

Display & Other Expected Features

Based on earlier leaks:

  • 6.7-inch OLED display
  • 1.5K resolution
  • 120Hz refresh rate
  • Possible stylus support (not officially confirmed)

Leaked renders previously showed:

  • Carbon and Martini Olive color options
  • Squircle-shaped camera module housing three cameras

Positioning & Competition

The Motorola Signature is expected to:

  • Sit above the Edge series
  • Potentially act as:
    • Motorola’s new flagship line
    • Or a bridge between Edge and Razr

Likely competitors:

  • OnePlus 15R
  • Upcoming Realme 16 Pro series (rumoured periscope camera)

For reference:

  • Latest Edge phone, Motorola Edge 70, launched at ₹29,999
  • Signature is expected to be priced higher

Why This Phone Matters

  • Signals Motorola’s new premium direction
  • Focuses on:
    • Design
    • Cameras
    • Flagship-grade performance
  • Could appeal to users who want premium features without ultra-flagship pricing

Final pricing will be key in deciding how competitive the Motorola Signature really is.
