Nothing has started rolling out a new Nothing OS 4.0 update for Nothing Phone (3) users. The update package is around 381MB and focuses on interface refinements, Glyph functionality upgrades, stability improvements, and multiple bug fixes across system apps.

The release does not introduce major visual changes but expands how existing features behave, especially around notifications, camera stability, audio handling, and overall device performance.
Key additions and improvements include:
• Glyph Matrix now displays incoming caller information and charging progress through Flip to Glyph, extending the usefulness of the rear lighting system beyond alerts
• A new Essential Notifications shortcut has been added inside Settings, making notification management easier to access
• Widget library now surfaces Essential Apps recommendations to speed up setup for new users
• Private Space apps can receive updates directly through the Google Play Store without leaving the secure environment
System usability refinements:
• Weather widget permission prompts have been streamlined to reduce interruption during setup
• Ringtone playback performance has been improved, especially when used alongside third-party apps
• Vibration tuning and haptic consistency have been adjusted to deliver more predictable feedback
• Call volume handling now includes better support for hearing aids
Camera and media fixes:
• General camera stability improvements across shooting modes
• Portrait mode preview freeze issue resolved
• Game audio that failed to resume after switching from Recent apps has been fixed
• Low speaker volume after Bluetooth calls has been corrected
🚀 Need a Shopify Store That Converts?
I build fast, clean Shopify stores for DTC brands that want more sales, not just a pretty site.
Connectivity and device reliability changes:
• Dual-SIM ringtone mix issue addressed
• Incorrect “no internet” network icon bug resolved
• Network handling improvements aimed at smoother switching between connections
• Broad system stability optimisations targeting performance and background processes
The update continues Nothing’s pattern of incremental software refinement, focusing on polishing everyday interactions rather than introducing headline features. Improvements to Glyph behaviour and notification controls suggest the company is expanding its signature interface elements in practical ways.
Allowing Private Space apps to update directly through the Play Store is particularly notable, as it reduces friction for users who rely on isolated app environments for work or privacy.
For regular users, the benefits of this update are mostly experience-driven:
• Fewer camera glitches
• More reliable audio behaviour during calls and gaming
• Better notification visibility through Glyph Matrix
• Improved overall device smoothness
As with previous Nothing OS updates, rollout is expected to happen in phases, meaning availability may vary by region and device batch over the coming days.
Users are encouraged to check system updates manually if the update notification has not appeared yet.
