WhatsApp Web Working on Call Notification Settings for Web Users

December 29, 2025 by Harish Reddy Gudi

WhatsApp is developing a new feature that will give users more control over voice and video call notifications on WhatsApp Web. The update is aimed at improving the calling experience on desktop browsers, especially for users who rely heavily on WhatsApp Web during work hours.

According to information shared by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp Web will soon support making and receiving voice and video calls directly from the web interface. While WhatsApp already allows calling on desktop apps, this feature brings similar functionality to browser-based users.

One of the most notable parts of this update is the introduction of separate call notification settings for WhatsApp Web. This means users will be able to manage call alerts on WhatsApp Web independently, without affecting notification settings on their mobile devices. For example, you can mute call notifications on your browser while keeping them active on your phone.

The feature will allow users to enable or disable call notifications, with notifications turned on by default. This flexibility is especially useful for users who keep WhatsApp Web open throughout the day but don’t want to be interrupted by frequent call alerts during meetings or focused work sessions.

WhatsApp has also confirmed that end-to-end encryption will remain intact for voice and video calls made through WhatsApp Web. This ensures that calls stay private and secure, maintaining the same security standards users expect from WhatsApp across platforms.

At the moment, WhatsApp has not shared an official rollout timeline for this feature. It is still under development and expected to be tested with beta users before being released widely. As with most WhatsApp features, availability may vary by region and account type during the initial rollout.

Once live, this update could make WhatsApp Web a more complete communication tool, reducing the need to switch between devices for calls. It also shows WhatsApp’s continued focus on improving its desktop and web experience, which has become increasingly important as more users work from their computers.

More details are expected as WhatsApp continues testing the feature.
